An impasto painting Inspired by Giacomo Manzù’s bronze Cardinale housed at Ca’ Pesaro, Venice.

This sculpture was severely damaged in the 2019 Aqua Alta floods and was only just restored when I saw him. I could imagine him bobbing up and down along the Grand Canal. The sleek lines and aerodynamic flow of the sculpture as well as its stern authority caught my eye and I just had to paint him.
