There’s something incredibly appealing (and satisfying) about being able to see something that you know can be touched.

Each one of Paul’s paintings contains amazingly textured, nearly sculptural, elements. They’re full of ridges and lines, canvas texture and piles of paint…

While his colors may look chaotic or random, they’re actually not. Paul chose cooler colors to allow parts of the face to recede (and contrast with the background) while using slightly warmer colors bring other areas of the face forward towards the viewer.

What to bring on the day; Duthy Street Art Supplies will be open!

• Good quality Reference picture

• Canvas

• Oil Paint and Acrylic Paint, we will begin with acrylic

• Odourless Medium and Odourless Solvent

• Please have your canvas covered with a layer of Gesso prior to class

• Palette knives various sizes

• Painting Palette

• Various sized brushes (you may wish to use here and there)

• 2 Jars with lids

• Rags and paper towels

• Baby wipes

• Plastic bag (for your used paper towels and rags)

• APRON

• iPad or similar
