ART ODYSSEY MAY 2027
One of the most ancient cities in the world, Athens Greece is famous as the birthplace of democracy.
With a history of over 3,000 years, it is the best town for sightseeing.
The city took its name after Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and daughter of Zeus. She was the protector of the city and in fact, the temple of Parthenon on the Acropolis is dedicated to her.
Ancient, Byzantine and Neoclassical sights make Athens a great town to visit.
The Olympic Games of 2004 improved the image of the town, with good transportation means and the reconstruction of old buildings.
Although the city's center might discourage visitors with its disorganized appearance at first, there are several places of historical beauty to visit, such as Plaka, Monastiraki, and Thissio. We will be staying in 4 Star BOUTIQUE ACCOMMODATION in one of these beautiful areas.
A trip is not complete without a visit to the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, the Ancient Agora, and the Roman Agora.
A very convenient town for walking as all sights are in proximity to each other
About Aegina
A gorgeous gem just an hour away from Athens
Visitors are invited to explore the island’s breathtaking landscapes, picturesque beaches, olive groves, historical sites such as the Temple of Aphaea and Paleochora, as well as the charming paths and neoclassical buildings.
Take a boat and just one hour later discover the first city-state of Greece that minted coins, the first capital of contemporary Greece and a gorgeous island for your holidays. With its 80 km of circumference and its 15.000 inhabitants, Aegina is an island that can be visited all year round.
Enjoy the island’s unique light, dear to the poets and writers Seferis and Kazantzakis, the painters Nikolaou and Moralis, or the sculptor Kapralos. Discover its beaches, coves, walking tracks and millenary olive groves, its temples (the temple of Afaia), monasteries (Aghios Nektarios) and old churches (Paliachora), and last but not least, its many delightful taverns!
We will stay at the home of Greek Artist and legend Nikos Nikolaou (Hydra, 1909 – Athens, 27 July 1986).
The Nikolaou Residence enjoys an exceptional location in the popular area of Plakakia.
Just a 10-minute walk from the city centre and located in the beautiful bay of Kolona, the property was the home and studio of the artist Nikos Nikolaou (1909-1986). He was a figure in the art world of the early 20th century and a friend of the painter Yannis Moralis of whom we find a sculpture facing the entrance of the property.
ABOUT HYDRA GREECE
Hydra is hands down one of the most quaint Greek islands! Located in the Saronic Gulf and pretty close to Athens, Hydra is ideal for all visitors who want to plan a getaway in a tranquil yet enchanting environment!
The charming atmosphere of the island has seduced many international jet setters, making it a retreat for famous personalities, like Leonard Cohen, Maria Callas, Aristotle Onassis and many more!
Elegant stone mansions, donkeys walking around the narrow alleys, churches, and little shops set a picturesque waterfront scenery that seems straight out of a fairytale!
Given that there are no cars on the island and people usually get around by foot, its roads lack traffic and fumes.
One of the best things to do there is to visit the museums.
The Byzantine Museum, the Historical Archive Museum, the Post-Byzantine Art and History Museum and the National Historical Museum are some of the best!
Moving away from the main town, you will discover picturesque villages, such as Kaminia and Vlichos, where you can immerse yourself in the traditional aspect of the island.
As for the island's beaches, they are the ideal places to escape the summer heat! The most famous and busy ones are Vlichos, Kaminia, Bisti, and Agios Nikolaos, which can be reached by boats departing frequently from the main town!
All in all, if you relish elegant destinations, you will fall in love with Hydra !
ABOUT PAROS
High on the list of top Greek holiday destinations, Paros Ιsland welcomes its visitors at the centre of the Cyclades Islands and invites them to explore its beauty, the lovely beaches with crystal-clear waters and some pretty impressive landscapes.
Paros was famous in antiquity for its white marble quarries; the so-called‘Parian marble’was highly sought-after for its top quality, for use in architecture and sculpture. Some of the masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture were made with this pure white, translucent material. The statues of Hermes by Praxiteles, Venus de Milo (i.e. Aphrodite of Milos), Nike [Winged Victory] of Samothrace, Nike of Paionios, and the Caryatids, i.e. the famous daughters [korai] of the Erechtheion, Acropolis, Athens are some of the most popular monuments made with this marble.
Some of the best known sculptors, painters and poets of ancient Greece come from Paros. The island has been an administrative and commercial hub in the Aegean Sea. Over the course of history it was conquered by the Romans, Byzantines, Franks, Venetians and Ottomans. It has known periods of great prosperity, as shown by the artifacts in its archaeological sites, which you can visit across the island.
