A day to remember and your Charcoal Sketches of beautiful Gum Trees will stand as a testament to your brilliance!

You will be invited to show your drawing in an exhibition that pays homage to our PARKLAND TREES and their Peril! The exhibition is currently being organised… more details soon.

All materials are supplied, including high-quality art paper, charcoal sticks/pencils and conte’, kneadable erasers, masking tape and drawing boards.

• DATE: Sunday 20 September 2026.

• TIME: 11:00am for those wishing to join the Guided Tour or 12:30pm start time without the TOUR

• Ticket with Guided Tour of Heysen House and Studio: $155

11:00 - 12:15pm Guided Tour of Hans Heysen’s House, Studio and New Gallery - Optional!

12:30 - 1:45pm Tea & Scones at The Cedars Kitchen

2:00 - 2:30pm Photographing Gum Trees

2:30 - 4:00pm Charcoal Drawing Workshop at the Cedars Cafe

Given our current loss of South Australian Parkland Trees ... I am hoping to gather a collection of Gum Tree Drawings and paintings through a few workshops. The first of which is set for:

20th September at the The Cedars... for a day of paying homage to our beautiful Gum Trees through Charcoal Sketching!

Heysen had what you could describe as a spiritual relationship with the Australian Gum Tree. Heysen was quite the conservationist, particularly where saving these glorious gum trees, which were threatened by the installation of electric wires but also by development.

He deeply lamented each tree which was lost.... we can understand this completely given what is happening to Adelaide’s Parklands
