ONLINE Portrait Painting in Oil
ONLINE Portrait Painting in Oil
During this 1.5 hour session I will demonstrate how to go about starting a your ‘realistic’ self portrait.
Date: Wednesday 15th April
Time: 6:00 to 7:30pm
In this first online session I will demonstrate ‘live’ how to establish your underpainting. You will do what I do, step by step. By the end of the session you will have created a Tonal Map of your self portrait using one colour and medium.
Once you have enrolled I will send you details of our ZOOM meeting for this class.
What will be needed for the session?
A coloured photocopy of your reference image - same size as image on canvas
Canvas size 16 × 12” / 40 × 30cm
Alizarin Crimson or similar Oil Paint
Oil painting Medium
Solvent ‘optional’
Various sized brushes
Baby Wipes
Cotton Buds
Paper Towels
You will need to have your Portrait drawn up on a Canvas prior to the lesson. I recommend tracing or projecting your image onto your canvas just so you have a very clear drawing and true. When tracing or projecting lay down as much detail as possible. This will help you tremendously with the painting.
Please note that you will need to have your easel and painting viewable for me to be able to see what how you are progressing. Best to work from a desktop computer or tablet - not a mobile phone.
Pictured Rachel a student in my Tuesday Evening classes, here she has painted an example of what you will create, using the method I will share with you in our online class.
